VPN, Interconnect, and private access

On-premises connectivity trades setup speed against bandwidth ceiling, and Private Google Access plus Private Service Connect solve two different private-connectivity problems.

Speaker notes

  • HA VPN sets up in minutes to hours with up to roughly 3 Gbps per tunnel — the right choice for moderate bandwidth needs or as a backup path. Dedicated Interconnect delivers 10-200 Gbps but takes weeks of physical circuit provisioning; Partner Interconnect splits the difference on both bandwidth and location requirements.
  • Private Google Access lets a resource with no public IP still reach Google APIs like Cloud Storage or BigQuery over Google's internal network — distinct from Cloud NAT, which handles general internet egress rather than Google API access specifically.
  • Private Service Connect goes further than Private Google Access: it lets a service — Google's own, another organization's, or your own across VPCs — be consumed via a private IP inside your own VPC, without any public exposure or VPC peering needed.
