How the five Cloud Operations products fit together

Five products answer five genuinely different questions, and reaching for the wrong one for a given question is a common, avoidable inefficiency.

Speaker notes

  • State each product's question plainly: Monitoring answers 'is something wrong right now,' Logging answers 'what exactly happened,' Trace answers 'where did the time go in this request,' Profiler answers 'where does this application spend its own CPU/memory,' and Error Reporting answers 'what's breaking and how often.'
  • The common mistake this slide exists to prevent: reaching for Logging alone to answer a Trace-shaped question — grepping logs to reconstruct request timing when Trace already shows the span waterfall directly is real, avoidable wasted investigation time.
  • A mature observability setup uses all five together, each for the question it actually answers — this synthesis is the natural closing point of the whole course's operational chapter, tying back to every earlier chapter's own 'is this production-ready' checklist.
