Quiz 3 of 5: Networking, Auto Mode and Fargate

7
Why is IP target mode preferred for AWS load balancers on EKS?
Why: Because Pods have routable VPC IPs, the load balancer can register them directly. Instance mode adds a kube-proxy hop and hides the client IP.
8
What is the key difference between Karpenter and the Cluster Autoscaler?
Why: The Cluster Autoscaler scales existing groups, so you must pre-define groups for every shape. Karpenter reads Pod requirements and picks the best-fit instance types, and also consolidates nodes.
9
What must a workload do to survive a Spot interruption well?
Why: Karpenter starts a replacement and drains the node within the two-minute notice, but a Pod that ignores SIGTERM is cut off regardless. Replicas and PDBs keep the service available.
