Quiz 1 of 5: Architecture and control plane

1
How does Kubernetes self-heal when a Pod disappears?
Why: Self-healing is the reconciliation loop: observe, compare, act. A controller does not care why the numbers differ, so a missing Pod is simply a gap it fills. The kubelet restarts containers inside a Pod, but replacing a lost Pod is a controller's job.
2
Which component is the only one allowed to read and write etcd?
Why: Every other component, including the scheduler, controllers and kubelets, talks to the API server. This single choke point lets authentication, authorization, admission and audit apply uniformly.
3
In what order does the API server process a request?
Why: First who you are (authn), then whether you may do it (authz, usually RBAC), then whether this specific object is acceptable (admission: mutate, then validate). Only then is it persisted to etcd.
