The left card is the shape every object shares. The right cards are the six nouns you will use in every later module.

  1. 1apiVersion and kind choose the API; metadata names and labels the object.
  2. 2spec is what you want; status is what exists, written by the system.
  3. 3Pod: containers sharing one IP and volumes.
  4. 4Label and selector: how objects find each other.
  5. 5Namespace scopes names, quotas and access, but does not isolate the network.
  6. 6ConfigMap is plain configuration; Secret is base64, protect it with RBAC and encryption.
  7. 7Liveness restarts, readiness gates traffic, startup protects slow boots.

Self-check: cover the poster and answer

  • Name the five fields of a manifest and say who writes each.
  • Why does a Service not need a list of Pod names?
  • Which probe removes a Pod from endpoints without restarting it?

You declare spec, Kubernetes reports status.
